HDTV.?...or is it DTV

Seems to be a lot of questions about HDTV and lots of people that think HDTV is the same as DTV. NO way ! When we change over in Feb, we go to DTV (digital TV), not high def tv. A lot of stations will go hi def, but this is not what is required of them. This brings up two questions for me. 1. What size screen does this old man need for high def to be seen? (or when can I tell the diff) 2. If coax will carry the digital signal, why do we need all those conections on the new gear? (HDMI, RGB, composite, etc.?) jim

RE: towing hybrids

Good advice about checking the owners manual. Make sure you read about recreational towing, not breakdown towing. Brake Buddy Classic is fine, as the pressure can be set very low as mentioned. I'm sure there are others. We have over 15000 miles (4 down) with our '06 Escape and are VERY happy with it. jim

RE: Entry Level Models?

Maybe I can help you with a short list of "do's". 1. Do NOT buy a name to please others. 2. Find a floorplan that "WE" like. 3. Check and double check the CCC. 4. Enjoy the heck out of it.! Add me to your list of 'Jersey' people and feel free to PM for anything I can help with. Jim

RE: Toad won't track?

When you make a turn, are you accelerating hard before the toad comes all the way around? If so, this can cause the toad to whip around the corner and not have time to straighten out. Then the worn parts take over. Jim

RE: need reassurance about towing a car

Your aux brake system should be set for the driver's condition, not road conditions. This isn't a 5er or a TT. Set it where YOU want it. Some drivers like to 'feel' the toad pulling when they stop, others do not. I like mine to work on a hard stop, but not during a normal stop. You're drivin', your choice. Jim

RE: Common Courtesy

Do not FLASH your lights after dark or any time you need to be running headlights. Instead, turn lights off and back on again. Flashing after dark is very hard on the eyes. When you see the trailer lights blink at you after the lane change, the driver is saying thank you. Yes, the driver knows where his trailer is. I'm not giving him permission to move over, I'm telling him I'm ready for him to move over. IMHO Jim

RE: 2008 mariner hybrid towed

I think dollars may be a little lite for New Jersey. And then there is 'brakes ---or no brakes' to deal with. If you're still following this thread, feel free to PM me. I would be glad to help any way I can. I (we) have more than 14000 miles with the Escape in tow and it has been a pleasure. Jim

RE: Strange battery drain

Sounds like the battery has a bad cell. Disconnect from all load and charge battery. Then leave it sit for 24 hrs with no load. Measure voltage or take to WalMart and have them do it.....bring home new battery if less than 12 volts. Jim

RE: formaldehyde

What ever you do, leave all cabinet doors, drawers, closets etc. open so the insides may ventilate whenever not on the road......... Jim

RE: Hybrid Braking System???

We pull a 2006 4WD Escape Hybrid and also use a BrakeBuddy. Doug covered it all. You MUST keep the pressure down as explained. Jim
